Catholic Youth Organization (CYO)

Ministry Leader: Christian Cochran

E-mail: CYO

Mission:  Holy Trinity CYO Club seeks to teach sports to children, and in so doing, to teach fundamental life skills, such as teamwork, dependability, self-confidence, and the ability to win with grace, or lose with dignity

CYO provides opportunities for kids to participate in a variety of sports in a positive learning environment. The main objective of CYO is "kids first, winning second." The focus is on skill development, cooperation, responsibility, fun, and sportsmanship. The athletic programs are open to all kids whether they are Catholic or not.   We organize Volleyball, Basketball, and Track teams to compete with other Catholic schools in the Portland area.  Football, Cheerleading, and Swimming are also CYO sports in which many of our school children participate, though they are not directly organized by the Holy Trinity CYO Club.

CYO’s goals include (1) Building the Catholic Faith Community by providing positive sports programs and individual experiences. (2) Developing the “Domestic” (home) Church by developing the whole person /athlete and providing the lessons through sports experiences.  Also, prayer always precedes all CYO games. (3)  Maintaining a self-supporting status by raising their own funds to cover all needs, and even donating money back to the Parish for gymnasium upkeep, etc.
