New Year’s Greetings from Fr. Dave!
We made it into another year! Thanks be to God. Blessings to each of you as we enter into 2008. May this year be a time of new beginnings, of new accomplishments, and of faithfulness to the responsibilities we have to our loved ones and to God. Merry Christmas to those of you who were away. I want to express my thanks again to those who worked so hard to make Holy Trinity’s Christmas happen: our church decorators, our musicians (outstanding job done by all of them!!!!), the Knights of Columbus for their prep work, all our liturgical ministers, Giving Tree participants and all who so enthusiastically participated in our masses. Well done!
To cap off the Christmas season, we have our parish Epiphany Party this weekend, on Sunday, January 6 from 12:30-2:30 in the school cafeteria. Food will be potluck style, so please bring along something to share. All the usual will be provided along with lots of good fellowship and fun. Come on down!
Those of you who were here for masses the weekend of December 29-30 heard the shortest homily you will likely ever hear me give. I told the story of the five balls. This is how it goes: Life is a process of juggling 5 balls: family, friends, integrity, health, and work. The balls are made out of glass and must be kept in the air at all times to prevent them from shattering. Over the years you discover that one of the balls is actually made of rubber. If it is dropped it will bounce. Which ball is it? (It is “work”.)
The next big event coming up is our annual Ministry Formation Retreat, for all our liturgical ministries (lectors, Eucharistic ministers, greeters, musicians). Join together with the whole crew on Saturday, January 26 from 9:00-Noon for prayer, reflection, and an opportunity to explore ways we can best serve our parish. Fireside Room.
If you have not picked up your offertory envelops yet, they are available on the counter in the narthex. The greeters will help you find yours. Year-end statements are being prepared and will be in the mail in the middle of the year. Thank you to all of you who are so faithful and so generous in supporting our parish! Collections have been consistently good, helping us to be even a bit ahead of our annual budget projections. Well done! Keep up the great spirit! |
