Greetings from Fr. Dave
Since my last bulletin column, we have had two exceptional events here at Holy Trinity. Our school had “Grandparent’s Day”, and our parish had a wonderful picnic. For Grandparent’s Day the students all invited grandparents, great-grandparents, or other “special people” to a morning at school which included mass, brunch, a program in which all the students performed, and then time to visit the classrooms. We had a huge turnout with people coming from all over the country and beyond—Texas, Florida, New York, Nebraska, Georgia, Puerto Rico, and of course lots of folks from closer in. What fun!
The parish picnic was a grand event as well. We got a perfect break in the weather allowing us to spread outside into the play area and new track. Food was abundant, laughter was constant, people of all ages were involved, and a most positive spirit prevailed. Well done! Special thanks to Monette and Franz Mallari and a huge group of dedicated volunteers for all your effort.
This weekend we are having our ministry sign-up. You will be guided through the process at all of our masses. We are also updating registration information and ask any who have had change of addresses to provide the relevant data. Our parish is blessed with many highly motivated volunteers in a vast array of ministries. I bet every one of them can witness how much they have personally benefited from the service they offer. It is such a joy to be a part of something powered by the Holy Spirit! If you have not yet experienced that, give it a try.
Women of the parish and beyond: remember our Women’s Retreat is coming up on October 20th from 9:00am-Noon in the Fireside Rm. I have heard Janice speak before and can tell you she is a very inspirational speaker. Her theme for the morning is “Lay Your Burdens Down”. Please call our office if you are coming so we can plan materials appropriately.
Next weekend we are having our annual parish offertory drive. As I wrote a couple of weeks ago, we are reducing our parish fundraising down to this one-time-a-year appeal. I’m confident this will work and need each of you to make a commitment to the parish and follow through with it all year long. We have a wonderful parish and through your generosity are able to provide service to people of all ages—within and beyond the parish. Please pray this week about the amount you give, and see if an adjustment is in order. We cannot ever out give God!
This week we baptized Amanda Maher and Zachary Eddy. Erin Caldwell and Tony Combs were married in our church. Congratulations |
