Greetings From Fr. Dave
It’s time for the Parish Picnic! I invite you to join us this weekend, Oct 7th at 12:30pm in the school cafeteria. Hamburgers and hotdogs will be provided and the rest is potlucked. Weather permitting we will expand outside for games as well—and with the new track all done we can walk a lap between courses! Let’s gather as a community and enjoy!
Our track was dedicated last weekend in the midst of good-old Oregon rain—and plenty of it. We had a true “sprinkling rite” provided by Mother Nature! Many, many thanks to so many whose efforts have led us to have such a fine facility, with special thanks to Michael Bergmann for his leadership and vision. The other day I saw several of our elderly walking the track and two young moms pushing their babies in jogging carts. Yes! The gate closest to the gym will be unlocked from 7:00am to about 9:00pm. Weekend schedule is still being determined. Five laps on our track amount to one mile, so get to work!
Next weekend, October 13/14, we will be having our annual Ministry Sign-up. You will be given an opportunity at each of the masses to update your registration information and to examine a list of possible ministries you might be interested in becoming a part of. Any of the ministries on the list that you mark will contact you and answer questions or provide training. One of the huge strengths of this parish is the level of involvement of so many parishioners, in so many different areas. Good job!
Women, your morning retreat is coming up Saturday, October 20 from 9:00am-noon in the Fireside Room. Janice Carleton will be leading the sessions on the theme, “Lay Your Burdens Down”. Mass will conclude the morning at 11:30am. All are welcome (unless you are male……). Please call our office if you will be participating so we can plan materials appropriately.
You will be receiving a letter in the mail this week from the parish outlining the annual Parish Offertory Drive. As I wrote last week in this bulletin, this is the ONE fundraiser for the parish, and provides for our operating, outreach, and ministry functions. Please read the materials carefully and be prepared for our commitment weekend on the 20/21st of this month.
This week we had the baptisms of twin boys Sawyer and Dean Clifton. Congratulations! |
