Greetings from Fr. Dave,
Here we go into Thanksgiving week! Happy Thankgiving to each of you. One of the many things for which I am grateful, is my first 5 months here at Holy Trinity as your pastor. Thanks so much for your warm welcome, and your enthusiasm about living our Catholic faith. Many of you have been sources of inspiration for me in your generosity in giving of your time, skills, and efforts on behalf our parish. I hope you don’t mind too much, but I plan to stay here a very long time!!
I invite you to join with our parish for our Thanksgiving Day mass at 9:00am. Please bring canned food along for our Community Outreach foodbank and keep it with you in the pews until the offertory at which time there will be a procession to bring it all forward. Of all the masses during the year, my personal favorite is Thanksgiving. We gather with a clear focus of giving thanks to God, and a clear awareness of how generous he is to us. If you have never come before, please do so this year! For a non-official “holy day”, this is a perfect and obvious Holy Day!
Last weekend I spoke about Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory. I have had a number of requests for the definitions used in the Catholic Catechism. Here you go: “Heaven is the fulfillment of our deepest human longings, the state of supreme and definitive happiness”. “Hell is the definitive self-exclusion from God and the community of the faithful.” I plan to see ALL of you in heaven! (By the grace of Jesus Christ!)
Thanks to the Knights of Columbus for the breakfast this weekend! And thanks to all who put together the Homecoming Party for Saturday night.
This week we celebrated the marriage of Lindsay Waldrom and Tim Spencer. Congratulations! |
