Greetings From Fr. Dave,

Happy November!  Hope you all survived Halloween.  I thoroughly enjoyed all the enthusiasm of the students in our school.  We had some great costumes, and lots of fun.  I assured each of them I would see that they got extra credit if they brought me a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup from their stash of candy.  Needless to say, I am swamped.  Sure are a lot of students who need extra credit!  Please, NO MORE!

Thank you again for all who have made their annual pledge to our one-time-a-year Offertory Drive and Building a Legacy.  If you have not yet done so, we have included a copy of the pledge form in this bulletin.  Please do your part, and please be consistent in your giving through the year.  I will do my part to minimize the fundraising in the church—and ask for your continued generosity to Holy Trinity.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of the year, partly because it is the least commercialized.  For us followers of Jesus, to give thanks is intrinsic to our lives, our worship, and our service to others.  I always host my family for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner and always look forward to it.  Ahhh, the smell of the turkey roasting is such a treat, and the turkey soup from the carcass is nearly as enticing as the turkey itself.  My stomach is growling just writing this!  Mass here on Thanksgiving will be at 9:00am.  Come and join with your parish community and begin the day with giving thanks to God for all his blessings!  The next two weeks our greeters will be passing out shopping bags with attached food needs for our community outreach.  As is our tradition, we will have an offertory procession during mass bringing your donated food to the altar.

For those who would like to reach me via email, I can be reached at frdave@h-t.org or at dagutmann@archdpdx.org.

This week funeral services were held for Sam Wasson (at Jesuit).  May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, rest in peace.
