Greetings From Fr. Dave!
Happy March! We are half way through Lent and well on the way to Easter! For those of you who are curious, Easter is always the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox. Of course you knew that! This year it is only one day after the earliest possible day for Easter. The next time it will fall this early is exactly 220 yrs from now. Guess none of us will be here to see that! (Last time it was this early was in 1913)
More importantly please gear up for the following events: our Lent Reconciliation Service is this Tuesday, March 4 at 7:00pm in the church. After a brief Liturgy of the Word, homily, and examination of conscience individual confessions will be heard. I continue to hear confessions every Saturday from 4:00-5:00pm. This is a powerful sacrament of healing and renewal—use it!
Patrick Berg, our Pastoral Associate is presenting a Lent Adult Education session this Monday evening at 7:00pm in the Fireside Rm. This is an opportunity to reflect more deeply on the Scripture readings of the Lenten season as a means to encounter Jesus more deeply. All are welcome, most especially those who are not able to participate in the small faith communities.
It is time to mark your calendars (please!) for our Holy Week Liturgies. Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil will all be celebrated at 7:00pm on March 20,21,22. These are our most solemn liturgies of the year and are simply the best way we can prepare for Easter. The time and effort you invest in these will be highly fruitful. Do plan ahead so you don’t miss out!
On a lighter note, our school is presenting the musical “Annie” on March 6 and 7. It’s going to be a super production and a lot of fun. Tickets are $5 adults, $3 students and seating is limited so order early at the school office. The school auction was a total success last weekend. I was impressed with the level of enthusiasm present and all the fine organizing led by Jennifer Cochran and Jill. We’ll have more details next week.
For those of you who were away last weekend or have not yet responded to the Archbishop’s Catholic Appeal, please do it! Additional pledge sheets are available at all masses this weekend. I ask all our families to participate! Thanks to those who have sent yours in or filled them out last weekend at mass.
This week we baptized Cody Matthews. Congratulations! |
