Greetings From Fr. Dave,

All of our parish religious education programs are ready to start!  This weekend registration tables are again in place for all of our children’s programs from pre-school to high school.  If you have not yet registered here’s your chance.  In the midst of our sometimes-crazy world, to be well-formed in matters of God is more urgent than ever.  Please make use of the resources our parish offers.  Special thanks to our many volunteers who make this happen, and to Melissa Core (children’s religious education), Kristin Wells (middle school youth), Dave Tarries and Ken Canedo (high school youth and confirmation).

Our parish Administrative Council that is responsible for the parish’s facilities, finances, and property, has worked with Kenya and me to establish a comprehensive plan for fundraising in the parish.  This was necessary to avoid having all of you solicited (“hit-up”!) week after week for money.  Here’s the plan.  Once every year the parish will do our Offertory Drive, Archbishop’s Appeal and an appeal to support our school during Catholic School’s Week.  These are the months we will conduct the appeals:

  • October – Offertory/Building A Legacy Drive
  • January – School support drive
  • February – Archdiocesan Appeal

These are our major fundraisers.  The parish will not be asking you for additional money—no “Christmas in July”, Fall Fundraiser, Faith-formation fundraiser etc.  Our parish ministries will be funded from the parish offertory collection to the fullest extent we are able to do that within the budget that is approved.  My hope is that this will allow us to consistently use our time at mass for worship, and also allow you to plan ahead knowing when and why you will be asked to support the ministry of the church.

You are invited to the blessing our new track and sports complex after the 11:15 mass this weekend.  The track is open for general use and can be accessed thru the gate adjacent to the gym.  The gate will be locked up each evening around 9:00am.

Coming up next Sunday, Oct  7, after our 11:15 mass,  is our annual parish picnic!  Come and join us for fine food and even finer fellowship.  See details in this bulletin.

A reminder to the women in the parish:  our Women’s Retreat is all set and rolling for Saturday morning , Oct 20th from 9:00-noon in the Fireside Rm.  All women are welcome to a time of personal renewal and reflection led by Janice Carleton.  Her theme for the morning will be “Lay Your Burden’s Down”.  The morning will conclude with mass at 11:30.  Please call our office if you are planning to participate so we can set up accordingly.
