A Prayer for Healing in our Church

O God of boundless love,

Ever caring, ever strong,

Your only Son

Was delivered into the hands of the wicked

Yet Jesus heals us through the blood of his cross,

And the hope of his Resurrection.

May those abused join their sufferings

To the pains of Jesus crucified.

Help us forgive the priests who have betrayed  us and your love,

Servants of your church

Whose sins have brought us shame.

May Christ hear the cries of those abused,

And help those responsible to repent of their sins.

May he still their pain and restless fears with faith in your protection,

Their doubt with confidence in your love,

And their rage with trust in your healing mercy.

Grant all shepherds of our Church

Loving compassion to protect all of God’s people,

Wisdom and strength to guide his flock,

And faithfulness to model their lives

After Christ, the Good Shepherd.

God of justice and compassion,

Protect all children from abuse,

And our church from authority that does not serve with love.

Deliver us from hatred and all vengeance.

May we seek only justice and truth,

And trust in your promise that you are

With us always.

We ask this through Christ our Lord Amen
