Good Friday: April 19, 2014
The Sacred Paschal Triduum continued with the solemn liturgy for Good Friday of the Lord's Passion. This is the only day of the year when Mass is not celebrated in the Roman Catholic Church. Instead, we pray, we listen to Scripture, we adore the Holy Cross, and we receive Communion with hosts that were consecrated the night before on Holy Thursday.
In his homily, Deacon Brett spoke of the divine solidarity of God who, in the person of Jesus Christ, took on flesh and became one of us, even to the point of accepting suffering and death. We venerate his Cross with gratitude and with hope.
