Greetings from Fr. Dave
on April 23, 2012
If you read Brett’s column last week you enjoyed his humor. Lest I be considered humor-less, let me add these to his! For those of you seniors out there who think texting is only for young folks, here’s some abbreviations you need to use:
ATD – “at the doctor”
BFF – “best friend fell”
BTW – “bring the wheelchair”
BTOT – “bring your own teeth”
GGPBL — “gotta go, pacemaker battery low”
ROFLACGU — “rolling on the floor laughing and can’t get up”
TTYL — “talk to you louder”
Keep laughing! It is a sure sign that you are allowing God into your life!
My announcement last week about our new partnership with St. Child, the maternity home for unwed moms, was met with much enthusiasm. We look forward to many, many ways that our parish can volunteer and be a part of this wonderful ministry. St. Child will be moving from their current location to our house late spring. As we get closer to that time we will make sure all of you know what help is needed. In the meantime, please get more information about this outreach from their website: www.saintchild.org.
You might remember that one of the outcomes of the Parish Summit earlier this year was to identify an additional major outreach of the parish. St. Child has been on our radar for several years because their ministry is so consistent with our Catholic Pro-Life commitment. When this house became available in our immediate neighborhood, and when St. Child was desperate to find a new location, it was obvious to our councils that we were invited to step in. Holy Trinity’s three main outreach areas are: our school, our Food Closet, and now St. Child. Thanks to all of you for the ways you support this parish!
Our annual International Festival is coming up May 12 and will be the opportunity we use to honor the 50th anniversary of the founding of Holy Trinity! Our events committee has put together a wonderful video highlighting pictures from the very beginning of the parish up to current events. Those of us who have come in recent years to this parish have much to be grateful for! The level of sacrifice and dedication of so many of our early members is truly inspiring. The fruits of their hard work is still benefiting us today. Sign-up sheets are available in the entrance of the church; our events committee is looking for folks to assist in many different ways with the Festival.
Braxton Williams was baptized here last week.
