RCIA / RCIC: Scrutinies
on April 7, 2011
On the latter Sundays of Lent, Catholic churches worldwide celebrate the final period of preparation for the RCIA and RCIC Elect. It is a time for reflection and prayer more than teaching. Parish communities pray the ritual known as Scrutinies to strengthen the Elect and support their conversion journey. These prayers help them to purify their minds and hearts in the final weeks before they receive the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil.
Here below are some photos from Holy Trinity’s Scrutinies ritual on the Fourth Sunday of Lent. All are welcome to celebrate the Easter Vigil with our Elect on Holy Saturday, April 23, at 7:00 pm.
Let us pray.
Father of mercy,
you helped the man born blind to believe in your Son
and through that faith
to reach the light of your Kingdom.
Free your chosen ones from the falsehoods
that surround and blind them.
Let truth be the foundation of their lives.
May they live in your light forever.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.- from the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
