Songs of the Week
on March 5, 2012
Welcome to Songs of the Week, a feature in which we share links to some of the songs we sing at Mass here at Holy Trinity Parish. This is in response to requests from many parishioners who want to bring our music ministry home with them.
We will share songs from the previous Sunday and songs for the upcoming Sunday. Where available, links will feature a song story by the composer, an iTunes link for purchasing, or a YouTube link. These are taken from the songlists across all four of our weekend liturgies. Enjoy!

Song Story from composer John Foley, SJ:
“For You Are My God” is the third piece I wrote in the “SLJ” style. I was composing for our local liturgy, so the biggest surprise of all was when I learned that the charismatic movement had made it a theme song for their huge gathering at Notre Dame stadium [early-1970s]. It is still a much-used hymn.

Note: Lent is a good time to share the traditional repertoire of the Catholic Church. At the Sunday morning liturgies, we sing the Gregorian chant version of the Lamb of God.
Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi: miserere nobis.
Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi: miserere nobis.
Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi: dona nobis pacem.
