Holy Trinity's Food Closet began in 1988 and was named after the small, closet-like space in the church basement where the service was housed. Though the Food Closet served just a small number of people each week in its early years, word quickly spread and caused significant annual growth in demand.
In an effort to support this growth, a 2,600-square-foot dedicated modular space was built in 2005, from which we now serve over 23,000 people per year. Our market-style facility allows the client to select which foods best fit their needs. We are open three days a week with clients welcome to visit every two weeks.
Of course, none of this would be possible without strong support from over 60 volunteers who dedicate over 700 hours to this program each month. Whether picking up food, stocking shelves or serving the clients, these faithful volunteers make it happen!

In partnership with Medical Teams International, we hosted an emergency mobile dental van on the first Friday of the month from October 2017 through December 2021. In that time, we helped serve over 426 patients in need of emergency dental care. The van is staffed by volunteer dentists and assistants and is able to offer extractions and fillings to those who do not have private dental insurance and otherwise qualify.
Beginning in January 2022, the Dental Van will be parked next door by the Beaverton Resource Center (BRC). This move, which has been planned since the BRC opened, will make it easy to connect patients with the other services provided by the BRC. We are excited for the BRC to have everything in place for this move to finally happen! We will continue to provide updates and information on how folks can get an appointment with the Dental Van and how to access other services at the BRC here on our website.
